I have over twenty years of clinical experience counseling adults, adolescents and children in individual, couple, and family counseling.  I was in private practice in the Chicago area from 1993-2012, at which time my family and I moved to Chapel Hill. I completed my Doctoral degree at the Institute for Clinical Social Work in Chicago in 2015.  My dissertation explores how psychotherapists understand the topic of empathy. In addition, I have been an adjunct professor at several universities where I have taught Masters level graduate students how to be ethical and skilled clinicians. I am a published writer. My publications are listed on this website.

When you call to make your first appointment, we will spend some time on the phone talking about what you are hoping for in a therapy experience. We will take the time you need in that initial phone call. If you are unsure as to the type of therapy that is best for you, I will help you to determine whether individual, couples or family counseling would work best for your situation.  I work with many skilled clinicians and can help you find additional resources if necessary.  I am on some insurance lists, and can certainly provide you with a receipt to present to your insurance or Health Spending Account (HSA) if that would be helpful to you.

I look forward to hearing from you.
